The Day I Almost Wrecked a Club's Season
The vendor failure in March 2023 changed how I think about table tennis rubber selection. One critical deadline missed, and suddenly the difference between a good rubber and a great one didn't seem like marketing fluff.
I was handling the equipment order for a mid-sized club, roughly 30 players plus some overflow for their junior program. The budget was set, the timeline was tight, and I had already made my reputation by keeping things running on schedule. Then came the Dignics 05 order.
I'd read the reviews, seen the hype, and figured: it's just rubber, right? How different could it be from the Tenergy 05 they'd been using for years? (Spoiler: very different.) I ordered 20 sheets, enough for 10 players, plus some backup. The total came to roughly $3,200.
That's when the trouble started.
